YouthQuest receives $5,000 grant from the Jennings Memorial Foundation

The Jennings Memorial Foundation has awarded the Genesee Chamber Foundation (GCF) a $5,000 grant for YouthQuest. GCF is the fundraising arm of the Flint & Genesee Chamber of Commerce.

YouthQuest (www.yquest.org) is a free after school program for K-8 students in Flint and Genesee County, managed by the Regional Chamber. The program is offered at 15 schools in four school districts to more than 1,800 students.

YouthQuestRhetta Hunyady, Regional Chamber Group Vice President, Operations and Employer Education & Training Connection, noted that the funding “will allow for more growth in the program.  We are very grateful to the Jennings Memorial Foundation for supporting our quest to provide a safe, learning environment for youth after school.”

The Jennings Memorial Foundation was established in 1997 in support of public education and charities in the Montrose, Michigan area.

Donald A. Snide, Chairman of the Jennings Memorial Foundation, noted in the congratulatory letter that the foundation is “proud to be a partner in this program. We applaud YouthQuest’s efforts to improve the quality of life for children in our local community, and we wish the program continued success.”

YouthQuest operates Monday through Thursday for three hours after the regular school day is complete, for 36 weeks of the school year. A six-week summer program will also be offered. For a list of the participating schools or for an enrollment application, please visit www.yquest.org.
