YouthQuest Adds Four New Schools; Begins Fall Enrollment

Looking for an innovative after-school program?  Then consider enrolling your child in the Genesee Regional Chamber of Commerce’s YouthQuest Program.  The free after-school and summer program, designed to prepare youth for a knowledge economy is available to students in the Carman-Ainsworth, Flint, Mt. Morris, LakeVille and Montrose school districts. Fall enrollment is currently underway.

This year four new sites have been added including Carter Elementary in the Montrose School District, Carman-Ainsworth Middle School in the Carman-Ainsworth School District, LakeVille Middle School in the LakeVille School District and the International Academy of Flint, the first charter school site.

According to Rhetta Hunyady, Vice President of Education and Training for the Regional Chamber YouthQuest provides a fun-filled, enrichment learning experience for students after the school day ends.

“It is exciting that new students will benefit from YouthQuest this year,” said Hunyady.  “It has been proven that the enrichment students gain from after-school programs can have a strong impact in the classroom.  These four new sites open a window of opportunity for a greater number of students in the region. Our goal is to make a difference in the lives of students in Flint and Genesee County.”

Traci Cormier, School Director at the International Academy of Flint says it is a very exciting opportunity to offer YouthQuest after school programming to her students.

“This is an incredible opportunity,” said Cormier.  “We are a very academically focused school and the enrichment aspect of YouthQuest provides a greater chance for our students to experience exposure to culture and the arts.  We are so pleased that International Academy students can benefit from YouthQuest’s high quality after school programs.”

According to Kelli Ann Rich, Prinicipal of LakeVille Middle School having the opportunity to participate in YouthQuest will open a new world for her students.

“As a rural district there are many things our students have not been able to experience,” said Rich.  “Now that YouthQuest after school enrichment is available, I am estatic about the possibilities.  This is a great thing for our school community.”
