Windstream Continues Investment in Flint, Michigan

FORTUNE 500 company continues tenure in Michigan, supporting and investing in the growing region

(FLINT, Mich., December 17, 2013)— Windstream (Nasdaq: WIN), a leading provider of advanced network communications and data solutions, today announced the opening of a new sales office in Flint, Mich., continuing its support of the growing number of businesses in the Flint and Genesee area.

Along with the company’s new office lease in the Gateway Center, Windstream also recently invested in an upgraded switch at Bristol and Linden Road, making Flint an intersection of more than 4,000 miles of fiber, and providing even more businesses across the state “smart solutions, personalized service.”

“After nine years at our previous Flint location, we felt staying in this area was essential in order to continue growing our relationships with the Flint business community,” said Jeffrey Head, Windstream’s regional sales director. “Windstream’s move to the Gateway Center signifies an even stronger commitment and investment in Michigan and to the success of our business customers.”

Windstream offers businesses in Michigan its full suite of advanced network communications technology solutions, including essential voice and data services such as VoIP, SIP trunking, MPLS, data center and dedicated high-speed Internet. Windstream also offers managed services, cloud computing, disaster recovery and networking services designed to help businesses increase productivity and improve operational costs.

Windstream’s Flint office serves thousands of local customers, providing a range of technology solutions designed to meet individual business needs. The company has served many Flint and Genesee businesses for more than 15 years. Two clients on the local roster include Garber Management Group and Mobile Medical Response. With nearly 40 locations across four states, Garber Management turned to Windstream for a custom network solution that allows seamless communication between all of the company’s locations. Another local business, Mobile Medical Response, serves the area with medical transportation, using MPLS, central office colocation and Allworx phone systems to meet their mobile medical communication needs.

Windstream’s Flint team currently consists of 12 employees and will likely expand to 15 during the first half of 2014. Local Windstream employees have served many area nonprofits, including the Flint Children’s Museum, the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan, the Genesee County Habitat for Humanity and others. The company strives to be a part of the local community it serves.

“We are a part of this community and this ribbon-cutting celebration demonstrates our commitment to staying here,” said Head.

“We congratulate Windstream on their continued growth and reinvestment in Flint and Genesee County,” said Tim Herman, CEO of the Flint & Genesee Chamber of Commerce.  “Their decision to expand in the region is a sign of a strong business climate that supports companies’ goals.”

Windstream hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony today at its new location.
