(Grand Blanc Twp., MICH. – June 17, 2014) Today TMI Climate Solutions and the Flint & Genesee Chamber of Commerce celebrated the official grand opening of TMI’s expanded facility in Grand Blanc Township. More than 200 employees and guests attended the event, which included a tour and culminated in a ribbon cutting ceremony. The 50,000 square foot expansion represents a $6.2 million investment and will result in 30-50 new jobs over the next three years.
“TMI is a great example of a local company continuing to invest in Genesee County,” said Tim Herman, CEO, Flint & Genesee Chamber of Commerce. “The fact that the company is adding jobs as it expands shows that this region can support business growth. We work with state and local partners to connect businesses, like TMI, with a skilled workforce from which they can draw to fill their open positions.”
TMI Climate Solutions is a subsidiary of MiTek Industries. The company is a major manufacturer of custom air handling and advanced hydronic systems with 150 employees. TMI has expanded its customer base beyond primarily automotive to include emerging markets such as hospitals, universities, laboratories and large commercial and government facilities. In addition, TMI has exported products to Australia, Canada, China, Dubai, Mexico and the United Kingdom.
“Today is an exciting day for TMI,” said Jim Huff, CEO of TMI Climate Solutions. “As we grow and meet the needs of our expanding hydronics business in this new space we are able to accommodate our global customer base. We now have the 20-ton and 30-ton cranes and the space to create the refrigeration units, pump skids and chiller and boiler plants our client base requires.”
Huff says the larger facility adds 50,000 square feet of manufacturing space and 9,000 square feet of office space to meet growing client demand. He also said that the company will fill open engineering, manufacturing and administrative positions in the next 24 to 36 months.
Thomas J. Manenti, CEO of MiTek Industries, TMI’s parent company; says the company is poised to take advantage of growth with this new 157,000 square foot facility.
“As the world’s leading supplier of state-of-the-art engineering products and services, subsidiaries like TMI play an important role in our expanding portfolio of services,” said Manenti. “This TMI expansion enables the company to enter new markets and meet the needs of existing customers.”
