TeenQuest Engages Thousands of Alumni

The Flint & Genesee Chamber of Commerce TeenQuest, pre-employment and leadership program is developing an alumni group for its more than 3,000 graduates throughout Flint and Genesee County.

Rhetta Hunyady, Chamber Vice President of Education and Training, conceived the idea of an alumni group to keep in contact with TeenQuest graduates and continue to offer support and enrichment as they move into the workforce or pursue higher education.

There will be an initial TeenQuest Alumni Meet & Greet/Brainstorming session on July 25 at the TeenQuest/YouthQuest offices at 4100 Pier North Blvd in Flint from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The purpose of the event is to gather input from TeenQuest graduates about the focus of an alumni group.

TeenQuest is a free afterschool pre-employment and leadership training program sponsored by the Flint & Genesee Chamber of Commerce.  The program is designed to teach Genesee County teens important skills needed to help them stand out in the crowd to employers.  Teens 14-18 years old and currently in grades 9-12 are eligible.

Participants who successfully complete TeenQuest become eligible to participate in the Summer Youth Initiative (SYI) Job Fair. Additionally, other employment or intern opportunities may be available through area employers throughout the school year for teens who complete the program.

TeenQuest graduates interested in attending can register online or contact Amy Watts at or (810)600-1459.
