YouthQuest Students Display Talents at Art Exhibition
(FLINT, MICH. – MAY 16) More than 2,000 YouthQuest students recently had an opportunity to test their inner Picasso, and as a result “ArtQuest: An Expedition Exhibition” was born. The Art Exhibition is a visual and physical celebration of the arts and cultural diversity. Songs of inspiration, paintings of wildlife and mosaics with a global perspective are just a portion of the talent representing countries from around the world that will be on display on Thursday, May 19 from 3:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Flint & Genesee Chamber of Commerce’s YouthQuest event. “ArtQuest: An Expedition Exhibition” takes place in the atrium of the Diplomat Specialty Pharmacy Building in Flint.
Tim Herman, the Regional Chamber’s CEO says this exhibition highlights the enrichment aspect of YouthQuest, which is unique to the after school program. “The incredible talent displayed by the young people in our region is very impressive. This event provides an important opportunity for the community to come out and show their support and celebrate the arts through the eyes of the YouthQuest students.”
The ArtQuest Expedition Exhibition travels from continent to continent highlighting the creative work of students from schools throughout the region. The exhibition showcases visual and performing arts, poetry and music.
According to Rhetta Hunyady, Group Vice President of Operations and Employer Education and Training Connection for the Regional Chamber, the exhibition is an example of the inspiring things that can happen when students use their creativity.
“YouthQuest is designed to provide positive outlets for students after the school day is over,” said Hunyady. “Through the arts, students enhance their leadership skills and the global focus of this exhibition provides a chance to transcend the world they live in everyday and gain a broader perspective. The students have worked hard to offer a creative show. We believe attendees will appreciate the individualism that is represented.”
