‘See what’s possible’ Marketing Campaign Wins Gold ADDY Award

(FLINT, Mich.-Feb. 19, 2014) – The Flint & Genesee Chamber of Commerce ‘See what’s possible’ marketing campaign earned the 2014 Gold ADDY Award for advertising creative excellence in the category of Integrated Campaigns-Consumer, Regional/National, from the American Advertising Federation-Greater Flint chapter, Friday, Feb. 7 at their awards ceremony.

The Flint & Genesee Chamber of Commerce ‘See what’s possible’ marketing campaign earned the 2014 Gold ADDY Award for advertising creative excellence in the category of Integrated Campaigns-Consumer, Regional/National, from the American Advertising Federation-Greater Flint chapter.

“It’s always great to be recognized for work well done, so we’re very pleased to receive the Gold ADDY Award,” said Tim Herman, Chamber CEO.  “Our Marketing staff had great partners on the campaign development, including branding consultant Mark Lantz, Fenton firm Shift Reset, and Jason and Carrie Shaltz.”

The campaign included print, video, billboards, television, radio and digital media. The gold award win qualifies the campaign for the Region 6 American Advertising Federation competition in March.

See what’s possible is a rallying cry that invites travelers to see all those attractions, events and assets that make Flint and Genesee County a great place to live and visit,” said Sherry Tompkins, Director of Marketing for the Chamber.

The marketing campaign highlights Flint and Genesee County’s rich culture, strong arts community, heritage innovation and entrepreneurship, emerging status as a college town, rebirth of downtown Flint and world class network of county parks and recreational facilities.

The campaign included TV and radio spots, print ads, billboards, signage and video. Television and radio commercials aired locally and on cable stations Fox News, MSNBC, CNN, TNT and USA network. Print ads appeared locally and in magazines. Radio advertising was used regionally and campaign materials were published in Pure Michigan Travel Guide, Pure Michigan Warm Weather Radio & Online Campaign, MSAE Impact magazine, Michigan Meetings & Events, Canadian Newspapers. Billboards were placed in southern Ontario, Canada, northern Ohio and southeastern Michigan along the I-75 north corridor.

In addition to the gold award for integrated campaign, the Chamber congratulates Alita Prince, University of Michigan-Flint student and a 2010 Katharine Roat Stevens Scholarship recipient. Prince won the Student Best of Show award for her NRG Brand Book entry from the AAF-Greater Flint. The Katharine Roat Stevens Scholarship Fund is held at the Community Foundation of Greater Flint and managed by the Genesee Chamber Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the Flint & Genesee Chamber of Commerce.

The American Advertising Federation-Greater Flint recognizes the best creative work completed in the previous year at its annual American Advertising Awards competition. The awards honor a local industry leader with the National AAF Silver Medal Award, a Student Scholarship award and local-only awards such as the “One That Got Away.”
