Located along University Avenue, between Begole and Prospect streets, Atwood Stadium is an iconic piece of Flint’s history.
The 11,000-seat venue has hosted everything from political rallies and musical concerts to athletic tournaments and various events steeped in tradition. Since reopening in 2015, the renovated Atwood Stadium has hosted nearly 40,000 visitors for collegiate, intramural, high school and youth sporting events.
And on Thursday, Aug. 24, the stadium will kick off something new: the inaugural Vehicle City Gridiron Classic.
Six teams are scheduled to play on the turf, thus kicking off the high school football season. They include:
- 1 p.m. – Bendle Tigers vs. Goodrich Martians
- 4 p.m. – Linden Eagles vs. Flushing Raiders
- 7 p.m. – Grand Blanc Bobcats vs. Carman-Ainsworth Cavaliers
Tickets are $7 and are available at each of the aforementioned schools. Attendees may also purchase tickets the day of the event at Atwood Stadium. One ticket allows entry to all three games.
What’s more, parking is just $5/vehicle. All in all, an affordable way to spend the day!
