(FLINT, Mich. – Sept. 3, 2013) The Flint & Genesee Chamber of Commerce is looking for gritty to pretty and everything in between in its new “SEE Photography Contest,” a monthly competition that will run year ‘round. Amateur and professional photographers are encouraged to submit photos of the city of Flint and the communities of Genesee County, showing the best of every season including festivals, flora and fauna, recreation, entertainment, action, sunsets, harvest time and waterways.
The goal of the SEE Photography Contest is to provide imagery for marketing Flint & Genesee as a destination for visitors, families, college students and new business. The Flint & Genesee Chamber of Commerce and the Flint & Genesee Convention and Visitors Bureau seek stunning scenic images from across Genesee County to promote, support, and drive tourism and economic development in this region.
“The Photo Contest is an extension of the branding launched earlier this year,” said Tim Herman, Chamber CEO. “It’s one of the ways the community can get involved with portraying the County in a positive and interesting and light,” said Tim Herman, CEO of the Flint & Genesee Chamber of Commerce.
All photos must be taken within the county lines. Up to three photos per participant every month will be accepted for review. Each month a first and second place photo will be selected for use by the Chamber in promoting Flint & Genesee as a great place to live, work and play. Winners will be determined by a selection committee and will receive gift certificates.
“This is an opportunity for amateur photographers to have their work published in professional publications and for professional photographers to expand the reach of their portfolios,” said Tompkins. “These photographs will be used in marketing materials that are distributed nationally and on our web site.”
Deadline for submission is the last day of each month. For complete rules and prize information, visit: www.flintandgenesee.org/see-photo-contest. Questions? Email
