Local Experts Recommend November ‘Must-Sees’ In Flint & Genesee County

November 2, 2016

Considering that Flint & Genesee Certified Tourism Ambassadors are trained about the region’s history and current attractions, we asked some local CTAs what attractions and events they would recommend checking out this month.

Here’s what they had to say:

“I would definitely recommend that they make dinner reservations at Blackstone’s Pub & Grill and try their Irish onion soup with melted cheese–it’s the best in town. Also, get some tickets to see Dirty Dancing at The Whiting for November 15 or 16. If there is time before the show, stop off at downtown Flint’s MW Gallery to see the newly opened Gallery featuring works by artists of the African diaspora and those who reflect on it.”

Andrea C. Bergstrom, Communications Project Coordinator at Ruth Mott Foundation/Applewood

“One thing I would suggest is to visit the Flint Farmers’ Market. It’s a huge building with dozens of vendors. You can pick out a nice bottle of wine at d’Vine Wines, and check out the beautiful displays at the Art at the Market Gallery. Whatever you do, make sure to grab a hotdog from B Dogs Hot Dog Cart while you’re there!”

Birdie Brooks, Sparks Ambassador at Bishop International Airport

Interested in becoming a CTA yourself? Good news: the Flint & Genesee Convention & Visitors Bureau is hosting the next certification class on Nov. 17.

Participants will learn about the power of tourism, local resources, area attractions and history and how to exceed customer expectations. The program is designed for employees and volunteers who work directly with visitors, but is open to anyone with an interest in learning about Genesee County.

Registration for the upcoming class is open through Nov. 4. For more information, click here.
