Did you know that, of the licensed childcare programs in this state, there are only enough to serve about 25 percent of Michigan children ages 12 and under? That’s why a coalition of community leaders are working to increase the availability of high-quality childcare options in our region.
But they need your input to do it.
The Genesee, Lapeer, Shiawassee, and St. Clair (GLSSC) Regional Child Care Coalition is seeking feedback from childcare provider business owners and staff about their experience of working in our community. They will use the findings from the survey – which is open through Sept. 8 – to inform recommendations for changes to business and policy practices.
Additionally, the coalition is hosting virtual discussion groups to get feedback from business owners, administrators, and staff at childcare centers on Sept. 6 and Sept. 11. For more information, or to register for these sessions, click here.
This effort is part of a larger, statewide effort that you can learn more about here. The Regional Child Care Planning project is supported by funding provided from the Michigan Department of Education utilizing American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding, from the Office of Child Care, Administration for Children and Families, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
