On April 2, we will hold our Annual Meeting Luncheon to report our 2013 accomplishments, celebrate our successes and highlight our focus areas for 2014. I hope you plan to join us.
We are also excited to have as our keynote speaker Mark Reuss, executive vice president of Global Product Development, Purchasing and Supply Chain for General Motors. In his new position, Mark is in charge of developing GM’s product, including vehicle engineering and design, as well as powertrains marketed in over 120 countries. In addition, he oversees a yearly purchasing budget of over $75 billion and manages a supply chain that encompasses thousands of parts suppliers worldwide. Mark will talk to us about the company’s commitment to the Flint & Genesee community, provide an update on Flint & Genesee projects, and provide an overview on some of GM’s hot new cars and trucks.
The Annual Meeting also features an award presentation. This forum, which brings together over 300 businesses and community leaders, offers a great opportunity to honor the recipient of the Art Hurand Award. Named after the late Art Hurand, a great philanthropist and savvy business man, the award recognizes an individual or organization that exemplifies outstanding community spirit.
This meeting is very important to me personally. Not only do I get to brag about my great staff and what they have achieved, I have the opportunity to give thanks to our partners. We simply would not have the same impact on the community as we do with partners by our side. And for that we are grateful.
