On April 1, the Flint & Genesee Chamber of Commerce became the Flint & Genesee Group. The newly branded organization will market its services through four divisions dedicated collectively to advancing the region’s attractiveness as a great place to live, work, play and invest. Those divisions are: Flint & Genesee Chamber, Flint & Genesee Economic Alliance, Flint & Genesee Education & Talent, and Explore Flint & Genesee.
Flint & Genesee Education & Talent, formerly Education & Training, houses programs and initiatives that the Flint and Genesee County community have come to know well, including YouthQuest, TeenQuest, Summer Youth Initiative and Career Edge. The division will also continue to administer the Flint Promise Scholarship Program and serve as lead partner for the Flint & Genesee Opportunity Youth Coalition.
“We are pleased to announce this exciting news and the changes that will come with it,” says Dr. Kimberly Leverette, Executive Director of Flint & Genesee Education & Talent. “Although we are changing our name, community members and partners will continue to see great K-12 career preparation programs and adult talent development.”
A new name and logo for the Education & Talent division also prompts a new social media presence. The former Flint & Genesee Chamber of Commerce’s Education & Training action group was active on social media with YouthQuest Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, and TeenQuest/SYI Facebook and Twitter. With the changes, the new Flint & Genesee Education & Talent division will share information on the Flint & Genesee Education & Talent Facebook page. The new page will be created by combining YouthQuest and TeenQuest/SYI Facebook pages.
Additionally, Flint & Genesee Education & Talent will continue to share stories on programs and initiatives through this monthly e-newsletter Afterschool Download.
