(FLINT, MICH – March 30, 2011) The Flint & Genesee Chamber of Commerce (www.flintandgenesee.org) in partnership with the eTeam has announced the recipients of two new awards — “Genesee 10 to Watch” and “Spark” — at the 4th Annual Jumpstart Business Conference.
“Over the past three years, businesses located in Genesee County and across Michigan have been challenged by a tough economy. However, despite the challenges some companies have great success stories to share about growth and job creation,” said Nell Taylor, Business Development Manager, for the Regional Chamber. “We wanted to highlight these companies so other entrepreneurs can learn from their experiences, identify opportunities and maintain optimism.”
The award recipients have businesses that cross many sectors that include medical/medical technology, marketing and advertising, manufacturing and green technology.
Criteria considered for the “Genesee 10 to Watch” Award included: a company must be privately held; be a commercial enterprise; be facing issues of growth; employ three to 50 full-time employees; have at least $200,000 in annual revenue or working capital; and have operations in Genesee County. Criteria reviewed for the Spark Award included: a company must be a startup that has been in business for two years or less; has a clearly identified market; and has demonstrated determination, vision and growth potential.
