Students have one last chance to be eligible for the SYI Job Fair this May
(Flint, Mich., 4/10/2025) – The last session of TeenQuest, a career readiness and leadership program led by Flint & Genesee Education & Talent, a division of the Flint & Genesee Group, is set to begin on Monday, April 14. This is the last session that Genesee County students can take to graduate from the program, which is a pre-requisite for the Summer Youth Initiative (SYI).
“This year, we added a fifth session at New Standard Academy, Carman-Ainsworth High School, and virtually to allow as many students as possible in Genesee County the chance to participate in the SYI Job Fair,” says Brianna Mosier, executive director of Flint & Genesee Education & Talent. “SYI is a great way to gain on-the-job experience and put what students learn in TeenQuest to the test. It’s also been shown that students who participate create lifelong connections, either with their supervisors or peers.”
This year, 27 for- and non-profit employers have joined, including four who are new to the program. New in 2025 are the Flint Housing Commission, Latinx Technology & Community Center, Miller Industries, and New Standard Academy. Other employers include:
- Asbury Community Development Corporation
- Beecher Community School District
- Big Brothers Big Sisters of Flint and Genesee County
- Boys and Girls Club of Greater Flint
- Catholic Charities of Shiawassee & Genesee Counties
- Davison Township Parks and Recreation
