Hanwha L&C recently opened its new Global Business Center in Fenton, Michigan. This is the first time that Hanwha L&C has established a global headquarters outside of Korea. The facility will serve as headquarters for the automotive division with operations in Korea, China, Czech Republic and Alabama. The Fenton facility is expected to grow to 50 employees.
According to C.B. Kim, CEO of Hanwha L&C, this facility will be the cornerstone from which the company will continue to invest locally and throughout the United States.
“We have established the Global Business Center to enhance our core business, which is automotive materials, and it will have an important role as a global control center,” said Mr. Kim.
Tim Herman, CEO at the Flint & Genesee Chamber says that Hanwha’s investment here proves the value of our location, infrastructure, workforce and access to significant customers.
“We’re thrilled that Genesee County was chosen to serve as the global headquarters for automotive operations for Hanwha,” said Tim Herman, CEO at the Regional Chamber. “The choice emphasizes that this region is well-positioned to support business growth for corporations from around the world.”
The Hanwha L&C Global Business Center is responsible for automotive product and application development, advanced materials R&D and sales and marketing.
“We chose Fenton because of its great location and industrial services. And we chose Michigan because of its commitment to quality and high-tech workforce,” said Jesse Hipwell, Director of Commercial Technology for Hanwha L&C’s Lightweight Materials. “Today, the new Global Business Center has 29 employees and is positioned for future growth.”
Hanwha L&C specializes in producing high performance materials used in the automotive, solar and electronics industries with annual sales of $1.4 billion and more than 2,000 employees globally.
