This holiday season, the Flint & Genesee Chamber of Commerce is offering personalized gift recommendations to shoppers who submit their requests at flintandgenesee.org/holidayshopper.
Here’s one question we received:
My sister moved to the east coast five years ago, but is still a Michigander at heart. This Christmas, I’d like to get her a something that reminds her home. Do you have any gift ideas that are made either here or in the state?
Looking Local in Burton
And here’s what our resident holiday shoppers had to say:
Hi, Looking Local,
Glad you asked – we have several ideas for you!
For instance, GoodBoy Clothing recently opened a storefront in downtown Flint. The business manufactures nearly everything in-house and has an awesome selection of streetwear for men and women.
Additionally, Bridge Street Exchange in Linden sells a wide selection of Stormy Kromer gear, which is manufactured in the Upper Peninsula (and even in Flint, in some cases!).
If your sister is a fan of the Flint coney, swing by Abbott’s Meat to purchase the famous topping for diehard fans. Or, check out Koegel’s online store, which sells coney dog party packs as well as the company’s beloved pickled bologna.
There are also plenty of places to pick up locally roasted and flavored coffee blends, including Flushing-based Coffee Beanery, Fireside Coffee in Swartz Creek and Flint Coffee Co.
And, if your sister is craft beer enthusiast, consider buying a growler from Redwood Brewing Co., Tenacity Brewing or Fenton Winery & Brewery.
These are just a few of the many Genesee County-based businesses that sell locally and Michigan-made products. Hopefully, this list helps you find the perfect gift for your sister!
Wishing you a wonderful holiday,
