(FLINT, MICH. – Sept. 11, 2013) Do you know of a business that is committed to making a difference in the community, provides exemplary customer service or has experienced strong growth? Then consider nominating the business for a Flint & Genesee Chamber of Commerce Business Award. The 2013 Business Awards are currently accepting nominations. Awards will be presented at a gala event on Thursday, November 7 at the Riverfront Banquet Center in downtown Flint.
Tim Herman, CEO of the Flint & Genesee Chamber says businesses in the region deserve recognition for continuing to contribute to the growth of the region and the Business Awards provide an opportunity to make that happen.
“Every day businesses in Flint & Genesee are keeping the region moving forward and accomplishing great things that often go unnoticed,” said Herman. “The goal of the Business Awards is to shine a light on businesses and business owners in the region who have made great strides and set a standard of excellence. We want the community to know about the businesses that are fueling the region’s economic growth and making this area a great place to do business.”
The biennial awards honor businesses and individuals. Nominations are being sought in the following categories:
- Outstanding Service Business
- Outstanding Manufacturing Business
- Outstanding Minority-owned Business
- Outstanding Woman-owned Business
- Outstanding Corporate Citizen
- Outstanding Green Business
According to Heather Kale, Director of Member Services for the Flint & Genesee Chamber the awards also serve as an opportunity for businesses in the region to celebrate excellence together.
“When the business community comes together to honor their own it is truly special,” said Kale. “I encourage businesses to nominate other businesses or themselves for their accomplishments and success. This is an opportunity to highlight the great work that is happening across Flint & Genesee. But, most importantly I hope every business in the region joins us on November 7 for a grand celebration of the overall business community.”
Nominations are open to for-profit businesses located in Genesee County that have been in continuous operation for at least three years, employ from two to 400 people and have annual gross sales of $100,000 or more. This year, nomination forms are online. Businesses can self-nominate.
Previous honorees have typically made gains in sales, profits or employment; achieved significant, measurable goals; created new products and/or services; made significant social contributions to the community or made a noteworthy investment in their business that has had a positive impact on the community.
