Flint & Genesee Fall Bucket List

Fall is here and there are plenty of activities to check off your list before winter blows in.

Go to an apple orchard

Nothing gets you in the autumn spirit better than your local apple orchard. Genesee County has many different orchards to choose from with fun kids’ activities including hayrides, u-pick apples and corn mazes. For adults, Almar Orchards and Spicer Orchards have wine and hard cider tasting.

Attend a fall festival

There are many events happening in the fall including Flushing’s Harvest Festival. For more festivals, check out our events calendar.

Buy fall veggies at your local Farmers’ Market

Many local seasonal farmers’ markets in the community are open until the end of September or October and have many autumn vegetables like corn or squash. In the later fall months, you can find local produce at Genesee County’s year-round markets, the Davison Farmers’ Market and the Flint Farmers’ Market.

Paddle the Flint River

The Flint River is a great place to kayak or canoe with launches at Stepping Stone Falls and Bluegill Boat Launch. If you’re looking for a group event, Flint River Paddles are hosted by the Flint River Watershed Coalition.

Grab a beer or wine at your local taproom

There are six great taprooms around Flint & Genesee with craft beer and wine brewed on-site and featuring seasonal beverages such as Redline Brewing Company’s Oktoberfest and Fenton Winery & Brewery’s Apple Pie Wine.

Ride your bike downtown

Fall weather is perfect for a bike ride. Whether you are in Fenton, Flushing or Flint there are plenty of places to ride your bike in Genesee County. If you don’t have a bicycle of your own, you can rent one with the Flint Bike Share in Downtown Flint. The Zagster bikes rent for $2 an hour and are accessible using the Zagster app. After you are done, you can return it to one of the seven bike share locations.
