About 175 graduates of the Flint & Genesee Chamber of Commerce TeenQuest program will seek employment during the first-ever Dream Job Fair on Nov. 14.
While graduates of the TeenQuest program traditionally qualify for the Summer Youth Initiative summer job program, the Dream Job Fair will connect business-trained 18- to 25-year-olds with more permanent opportunities.
“More than a dozen local employers will present their job opportunities to young adults who have graduated from the Chamber’s TeenQuest program,” said Rhetta Hunyady, Vice President, Education and Training, Flint & Genesee Chamber. “Our program alumni have successfully completed training in business etiquette. They have a leg up on what it means to get a job and – more importantly – to keep one.”
The Dream Job Fair is 8 a.m.-noon Friday, Nov. 14, at the Mott Community College Regional Technology Center, 1401 E. Court St., Flint.
In addition to local employers, the TeenQuest graduates will have access to several employment placement agencies, Michigan Economic Development Corp.’s Community Ventures and presentations by the MAT2 program and Genesee County Planning Commission Ride Share.
The job fair is a partnership between TeenQuest, Mott Community College, the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Flint and MEDC.
TeenQuest is a five-week training program designed to help high school students ages 14-18 prepare for success. Students learn the basics of teamwork, business etiquette, work ethics, communication, goal setting and conflict resolution.
