The Flint & Genesee Economic Development Team has launched a series of workshops to nourish the growth prospects of local companies.
Part One of the series begins May 7 with “Expanding Into New Markets: Resources to Increase Sales” for businesses that are seeking to expand their operations outside of the Flint & Genesee region. This free workshop takes place from 8-9:30 a.m. at the Mott Foundation Building, 519 S. Saginaw St., in Flint.
Participants will gain valuable insight from Michigan Economic Development Corp. (MEDC) experts on several topics: bid proposal writing; economic gardening; export assistance; and Pure Michigan Business Connect. Representatives from the I-69 Thumb Region Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) also will be present to discuss the ins-and-outs of government contracting.
Pre-event registration is required and space is limited to 20 participants. Light refreshments provided.

Part Two – the “Talent Resources” – is scheduled for June 11. The workshop will feature the following individual sessions: Earn & Learn; Community Ventures; Available Training Funds; and a Vocational & Technical Training Panel. A case study also will be presented.
Part Three – “Financial Packaging” – will take place July 9. Topics will cover the various financial resources available for growing businesses.
