Autumn begins next week and there are plenty of things to do to celebrate the seasons changing in Flint & Genesee.

Explore Genesee County Parks

Flint and Genesee County is home to over 11,000 acres of parks and recreation space. From the trails at For-Mar Nature Preserve and Arboretum to the beautiful views of Stepping Stone Falls, there is something for everyone to enjoy. And with the changes of the leaves, now is the perfect time to venture into the parks.

Attend a Fall Festival

As we get into the season, many cities and towns in Flint and Genesee County are hosting festivals and events to celebrate. Various events include the Flushing Harvest Festival on September 28 and the Davison Pumpkin Festival on October 12.

Go for a Paddle

Whether you enjoy the Flint River or the Shiawassee River, fall is a great time to take your canoe or kayak out on the water one last time. There are plenty of boat launches and access sites throughout the county.

Enjoy a Bike Ride

Many towns and cities throughout Flint and Genesee County are bicycle-friendly. In downtown Flint, the Flint Bike Share makes it easy to rent a bike for a day ride for $2 an hour.

Sip on a Local Beer or Wine

There are six great taprooms around Flint and Genesee County with craft beer and wine brewed on-site and featuring seasonal beverages. Local favorites include the Fenton Winery & Brewery, Spicer’s Winery and Redline Brewing Company.

Visit Your Local Orchard

Apple orchards are everywhere in Flint and Genesee County. From Porter’s Orchard in Goodrich to Almar Orchard in Flushing and everywhere in between. Now is a great time to enjoy some fresh brewed apple cider and a cider donut.
