Fall beauty is taking over in Flint & Genesee making it the perfect time to be out in nature. There are plenty of great ways to enjoy the coming of fall, here are a few.
Hike the woods
One of the best places to take in the changing of the seasons is your local park. Hike the grounds, take some fall photos or simply enjoy nature. For-Mar Nature Preserve hosts a Fall Color Hike in October for those interested in a guided hike.
Paddle the river
Grab your kayak or canoe and take a trip down the river. Go solo or get a group of friends together to witness the turning of the trees. Through October 7, the Flint River Watershed Coalition and Corridor Alliance provides a weekend kayak rental, Kayak Flint, behind Tenacity Brewing. South of the city of Flint in Linden, E Z Kayak and Canoe Rental provide rentals right off the Shiawassee River.
Take a drive
There are plenty of places to see the trees change. Drive through neighborhoods such as Woodcroft Estates, drive through your city’s downtown or simply skip the highway and take the back roads instead.
Ride a bike
See the fall colors on two wheels either on a trail, such as the Flint River Trail, or ride through your local city. Looking to bike in downtown Flint? Take advantage of Flint Bike Share. With eight bike rental locations, it is easy to travel all around Flint from Kettering to Bluebell Beach.
