Employers seeking to fill full- and part-time entry-level positions are invited to register for the Flint & Genesee Job & Resource Fair on Aug. 23.
Nearly 200 job seekers are expected to the attend the event, which will be open to the public and held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Baker College. Participating businesses will be provided with private rooms, where they can highlight available job opportunities and interview candidates.
“This is a great way to gain access to many job seekers in one location,” says Rhetta Hunyady, Vice President of Education & Training of the Flint & Genesee Chamber of Commerce. “It saves employers time and puts them in front of a variety of candidates, including those who may not have been familiar with the business beforehand.”
In addition to the brand exposure, there are financial incentives for employers that participate. Companies who hire graduates of the TeenQuest and Career Edge will be eligible to apply for funds that cover up to half of normal hiring and employment costs during the first 90 days of employment.
Additionally, the Chamber is partnering with the State of Michigan Talent Investment Agency and GST MiWorks to bring in individuals who have temporary employment through the local water distribution sites. These employees have received career coaching and are ready to make the next step in their careers.
“Many of the people attending this job fair will have gone through some sort of pre-employment training or coaching,” Hunyady said. “They’re ready to put their talent and skills to work!”
