Creative Foam Set to Expand in Mundy Twp. and Add Jobs

(Mundy Twp., Mich. – Oct. 26, 2016) Creative Foam Corp., a supplier of engineered solutions for the automotive, medical and composites markets, will invest $6.8 million to expand its Mundy Township facility where it will add 45 new jobs. The company will also add 65 positions at its Fenton location, as part of its overall investment in Genesee County, bringing the total number of new jobs to 110.

The Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) today awarded Creative Foam a $550,000 Michigan Business Development Program performance-based grant for the project. Creative Foam will add 40,000 square feet of manufacturing and warehouse space to the existing building that will double the building’s footprint in Mundy Township.

Work at the site is expected to begin later this fall and hiring is underway. For employment inquiries, prospective applicants should send an email to or visit http://creativefoam.com/careers/.

“Working with the MEDC and Flint & Genesee Chamber of Commerce was a positive experience,” said David Swallow, CEO of Creative Foam. “The collaboration between our business, Creative Foam Corporation, and the MEDC is good for the communities.

“We look forward to providing jobs to the local area economy, and the MEDC and the Flint & Genesee Chamber was instrumental to providing the guidance, relationships and attendance at meetings to make this happen. Thank you Jeremy Webb and Ty Rossaessler at the MEDC, and Justin Sprague at the Flint & Genesee Chamber for their assistance!”

Founded in 1969 in Fenton, Creative Foam now employs more than 1,000 people at 11 manufacturing locations in Colorado, Ohio, Tennessee, Indiana, Florida, Michigan and Mexico. It has five manufacturing locations in Michigan as well as its corporate headquarters and engineering and development center in Fenton.

Michigan was competing against Tennessee, Colorado and Mexico for the project.

“I think it’s a positive for Mundy Township that Creative Foam has chosen to expand and we’re excited to welcome them into our community,” said Dave Guigear, Mundy Township Supervisor.

Flint & Genesee Chamber of Commerce CEO Tim Herman also applauded today’s announcement of new investment in the region.

“Manufacturing is a core strength of our region because of companies like Creative Foam, which is one of Genesee County’s largest manufacturers,” said Herman. “We’re very pleased that Creative Foam has chosen to expand its operations here instead of in another state or Mexico. That speaks well to our business climate as well as to the quality of talent available to fill the jobs that will be created by the expansion.”

The Flint & Genesee Chamber, which also serves as the lead economic development agency for the county, assisted Creative Foam through the site plan review process and obtaining a P.A. 198 tax abatement.
