Grab your sneakers: The Greater Flint Health Coalition is launching its next Commit to Fit challenge.
Participants in the 2016 Walk to Wellness Challenge will be tasked with walking on a regular basis and tracking their steps or minutes of activity from May 1 to May 31.
Individuals who average 8,000 steps a day throughout the month will be eligible for prizes including a Fitbit Charge, an Annual Genesee County Parks Family Pass and Flint Farmers’ Market gift certificates.
Skeptical about whether or not you’ll be able to meet the challenge with your current workout schedule? Considering joining a local walking club. Two options include the:
- McKinley Park Walking Club, which will meet Thursdays from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The club starts May 12.
- Max Brandon Park Walking Club, which will meet Mondays from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The club starts May 9 and will meet at Pavilion 2, near MLK and Stewart Avenue.
According to event organizers, the challenge aims to promote physical activity in the community, while also highlighting local parks and walking facilities.
