After Mayor Karen Weaver declared a State of Emergency for Flint in December, the city activated its own Emergency Operations Center (EOC) to coordinate relief efforts related to the water crisis.
The center includes representatives from state-level and local organizations, including the American Red Cross, United Way and – most recently – the Flint & Genesee Chamber of Commerce. Cheryl DeFrain, the Chamber’s Director of Operations, began participating in the organization’s briefings last week.
DeFrain’s appointment will help ensure the Chamber’s alignment with the city, county and state governments as Flint works through the water crisis. The assignment will also allow her to bring forth concerns of the business community for consideration and possible action.
