Chamber YouthQuest Celebrates ‘Hands-on’ Creativity with ArtQuest 2013

(FLINT, MICH.) Creativity will be on display as the Flint & Genesee Chamber of Commerce YouthQuest afterschool program presents ArtQuest 2013.  The art exhibition begins on Wednesday, May 15 and runs through Thursday, May 16 in the atrium of the Diplomat Specialty Pharmacy Building, 4110 S. Saginaw Street in Flint from 3:00 p.m. through 6:30 p.m.

According to Tim Herman, CEO of the Chamber ArtQuest exemplifies the enrichment activities that YouthQuest students participate in throughout the school year.

“ArtQuest provides a way to celebrate the creativity of students in the region,” said Herman.  “This event offers an opportunity for the community to show support for the arts and see the many wonderful projects developed by YouthQuest students.”

The ArtQuest 2013 exhibition is the result of works from more than 2,000 YouthQuest students.  The exhibition features more than 1,000 pieces of artwork, as well as skits, video productions, group projects, cup stacking demos, a musical petting zoo, a roaming magician and musical performances.  Students from 15 YouthQuest schools will participate in the two-day event.

“Creativity expands the mind,” said Rhetta Hunyady, Vice President of Education & Training.  “After the school day is over, YouthQuest provides an enrichment experience designed to enhance students’ leadership skills and increase their appreciation of the arts.  Thousands of YouthQuest students contribute to ArtQuest and the results are always amazing.”

YouthQuest is a free after school program that reaches more than 2,000 K-8 students at 15 school-based sites in Flint and Genesee County managed by the Chamber.  For more information about ArtQuest contact Rhetta Hunyady at (810) 600-1412 or visit www.yquest.org.
