Shared Service Center Leadership Alliance Launches Second Class

The Flint & Genesee Chamber of Commerce Shared Services Leadership Alliance program is preparing to launch its second class.  The six-month program is designed to provide public sector leaders with the knowledge and skills required to facilitate shared collaborative services.

Last year’s inaugural class included 10 professionals from throughout the region.  This year, 13 participants will receive leadership and organizational development training, coaching/mentoring and team support development.  The six-month program includes one full-day session and a one hour coaching session per month.  Scheduled sessions include:

  • Team Playing
  • Creating a Shared Vision:  Kirton Adaption Innovation Inventory
  • Developing Followership: The Negativity Trap
  • Implementing the Vision:  Thinking Lean
  • Following Through
  • Achieving Results:  Shared Services Project Presentation

Each session will be led by professionals and experts from the public and private sectors.  Session leaders and facilitators are experts in the fields of leadership and collaboration.

The Shared Services Center is operated by the Chamber and was conceptualized by a coalition of community leaders from Flint and communities throughout Genesee County.  Through the creation and facilitation of shared public services the center works to assist the public sector in finding ways to best utilize resources and save money through collaboration. The Michigan Municipal League is providing Elected Officials Academy credit for Academy members who also participate in the Leadership Alliance.
