Chamber Disability Works Summit Highlights Workforce Diversity

(FLINT, MICHIGAN – May 8, 2014) On Wednesday, May 14 the Flint & Genesee Chamber of Commerce Disability Works Committee will host a Business-to-Business Summit:  Putting Workforce Excellence & Diversity to Work.  The summit takes place at the Holiday Inn Gateway Centre from 8:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Jeanie Stone, Vice President of Trijicon, Inc. will serve as the keynote speaker.  A panel of local business leaders will participate in an interactive discussion on the value of hiring qualified workers with disabilities.  The executives will share strategies for small, medium and large businesses to consider when diversifying.

There will also be a resource session hosted by Kathleen Lee, a National EARN Consultant.  The session will focus on sharing practical, effective and achievable take away strategies and resources.

According to Heather Kale, Director of Member Services for the Chamber the goal of the summit is to provide strategies and resources for businesses in Flint and Genesee.

“This summit is a great way to hear firsthand accounts of the benefits of hiring workers with disabilities,” said Kale. “I definitely encourage employers to consider attending this event to learn more about why an increasing number of companies are diversifying their workforce in unique ways.”
