This year has passed quickly for the Flint & Genesee Group, increasing the need for speed and agility as we managed COVID-19 headwinds, organizational change and implemented programs to support our partners.
Earlier this year, we rebranded our organization adopting a new name, identity and a market-driven approach. This was a significant undertaking. However, it was necessary to better reflect our growth, communicate who we are, and what services we offer and to whom.
At the same time, we worked with our federal and state partners to keep our employees and many others informed on the pandemic and the critical need to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. We worked through the challenges of remote work arrangements and in-person work, and when and how to move efficiently between the two states of working. And the challenges continue with the delta variant remaining strong and the new omicron variant now arriving in the U.S, including Michigan.
We implemented programming to support small businesses and other employers to help mitigate the various impacts of the pandemic. Some of which included connecting employers with talent and supporting the region’s growing workforce through career preparation and talent development, administering multiple grant programs, launching the Small Business Help Desk, implementing shop local programs, driving new investment and business to the region, and so much more.
We also pledged our commitment and took actions toward making diversity, equity and inclusion central to everything we do, starting internally, first. We look forward to sharing more about our journey, including lessons learned and recommendations in the coming weeks and months.
We know that exciting and challenging times await the Group and our divisions in 2022, and I am confident that with the team, culture, dedication and enthusiasm we have in place, we are well-positioned to meet the times.
But for now, on behalf of our Board of Directors and staff, I wish you a safe and happy holiday season!
