Career Edge – Workshops to Help Adults Get and Keep a Job

Career EdgeFlint & Genesee Chamber of Commerce Education and Training will launch Career Edge, a series of workshops designed to help adults prepare for the job market. Whether new to the job market, returning to the job market or simply having trouble navigating the job market, the workshops provide the skills needed to get and keep a job.  The series begins with Laying the Foundation on Friday, October 4 at from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Chamber offices.

The workshop series is based on targeted instruction in four areas:

  • Laying the Foundation – focuses on attitude, business etiquette and communication.
  • Job Search – includes resume development and job application completion.
  • Interview Preparation – emphasizes types of interviews, skills assessment and role playing.
  • Keeping a Job – focuses on dependability, ethics, teamwork and sphere of influence.

“We designed the program as an orientation to the workplace for individuals seeking first-time employment and a reorientation for those returning to the workplace or seeking new opportunities,” said Rhetta Hunyady, Vice President of Education and Training for the Chamber.  “The series provides the foundation needed to find employment.  This is a great opportunity for job seekers in Flint and Genesee.”

The Chamber is located at 519 S. Saginaw in downtown Flint.

Cost for the program is $15 and $10 for students (high school and college) per workshop.  Participants must pre-register and can pay online at www.flintandgenesee.org/careeredge. Scholarships are also available, contact   for information.
