August is always a highlight in Flint & Genesee thanks to the many special events and activities held here. But these events – which draw spectators and participants from all over the region, state, and country – are only possible with the help of the many community members who volunteer their time and services.
Interested in helping make one or more of this year’s events possible? Here’s what you need to know:
- Aug. 10: Be a Tourist in Your Hometown. This fan-favorite is back again after a five-year hiatus. To volunteer, sign up at ExploreFlintandGenesee.org/BAT.
- Aug. 19-25: The Ally Challenge presented by McLaren. Volunteers are needed to check tickets and credentials at admission gates, assist with daily maintenance work at Warwick Hills, drive the ADA shuttle along an assigned course, and more. For details, visit TheAllyChallenge.com/volunteers.
- Aug. 21-24: HAP CareSource Crim Festival of Races. Volunteers are needed for a variety of duties, including distributing pizza at the food tent, organizing and distributing race packets, blocking small intersections from traffic, cleaning up the festival lot, and more. - Aug. 29-30: Vehicle City GridIron Classic. Volunteers are needed to work four- to five-hour shifts in concessions, program sales, hospitality tent, traffic monitoring, admissions, and more. A one-hour orientation will be held closer to the event to acquaint volunteers with the stadium and event particulars. Volunteer contact: Amari Steward,
