Terry Katzur receives his Professional of the Year Award from MCUL President/CEO Patty Corkery.

ELGA Credit Union’s Executive Vice President Terry Katzur has been named Professional of the Year by the Michigan Credit Union League (MCUL). This award recognizes his leadership within the credit union and his contributions to the industry as a whole. He was awarded this honor at the MCUL’s Annual Convention & Exposition on Aug. 24. This prestigious award is given to one credit union professional each year.

“Terry is a kind and considerate leader who is well respected, trusted and loved at ELGA Credit Union,” said ELGA CEO Karen Church. “His leadership has always guided our associates, and over the past year it has been invaluable in ensuring our associates and members have felt safe and connected. He is very deserving of the Professional of the Year award.”

After more than 25 years with ELGA, Katzur prepares to shift his role in 2022, when he will be named CEO.

The Neighborhood Engagement Hub (NEH) board of directors appointed Thomas Wyatt executive director, effective Oct. 4. Wyatt brings experience working with diverse communities in Flint. His experience with community engagement, and expertise in management, planning, development and implementation of projects is crucial to moving NEH forward as an organization. He is a firm believer in building strong relationships with neighborhood residents and community stakeholders at all levels.

“With Mr. Wyatt’s arrival, we sadly have to say goodbye to our current executive director Ashley Everhart. Ms. Everhart is moving on to pursue other opportunities. She was our first executive director and was instrumental in growing the organization to what it is today. We thank her for all her hard work over the years and wish her the best in her future endeavors,” said Board Chair Antwan Edson. “Ashley has agreed to remain for a few weeks to help us transition to a new director. We are honored as a board to have worked with her.”

Neurosurgeon Lisa Guyot, MD, and her surgical practice have transitioned to Ascension Medical Group (AMG) effective Sept. 1. With 20 years of experience, Dr. Guyot has established herself as a renowned surgeon providing exceptional care for patients across the greater Flint region. Dr. Guyot is board certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery and specializes in minimally invasive spine surgery. She treats spinal conditions including decompression procedures to the cervical, thoracic and lumbar areas of the spine, discectomy and spinal fusions. She also treats carpal tunnel syndrome and ulnar neuropathy. Dr. Guyot is joined by nurse practitioner Melissa Kildow, NP. She helps patients understand their spinal condition and all options of conservative treatment.

Financial Plus Credit Union earned a spot among the 2021 Best Credit Unions to Work For, awarded by American Banker and Best Companies Group. Financial Plus is one of only seven Michigan credit unions on the 2021 list.

Forum Health, LLC, nationwide network of functional and integrative medicine headquartered in Flint, adds five nursing providers to join existing Forum Health clinics across several states.

Genesee Health System announced that the first group of officers have graduated from its Crisis Intervention Training (CIT) program. CIT training is being offered through a combination of grant funds and will be continued by the Genesee County Mental Health Millage that was passed in May.

“The officers completing the CIT training in Genesee County not only completed a 40-hour course in how to better interact with the general public experiencing a mental health crisis, but also bridged an important gap between law enforcement and mental health professionals forming relationships to work together as a team,” said Kailey Baker, GHS’ Behavioral Health Urgent Care- Crisis Intervention Team supervisor

“Genesee County took an important step today, congratulating the inaugural graduating class of the CIT training program as the beginning of an enhanced partnership between GHS and Genesee County law enforcement,” said Jennifer McCarty, GHS’ senior director, Clinical Performance & Innovation.
