Michigan Certified Development Corp. on April 27 announced the promotion of Marnie Spitzley to vice president of operations. Formerly the lead underwriter, Spitzley is dedicated to helping Michigan’s small businesses with a commitment to outstanding customer service and is a great example for the MCDC team and lending community alike. Spitzley, who joined the MCDC in 2011 as an intern, continues to play an integral part in growing MCDC into a top 20 CDC in the country and the consistent leader in 504 loan production in Michigan.

She replaces Dave Kramer, who will retire on May 31. Kramer joined the MCDC in 1998 as a portfolio manager when it was still part of state government. He served as a senior loan officer when the MCDC became independent and would later become the state’s largest community development corporation (CDC) and the premier SBA lending partner.

Ascension Genesys Hospital recently achieved reaccreditation as a Center of Excellence in Robotic Surgery by Surgical Review Corporation (SRC), an independent, internationally recognized patient safety organization. In addition, three surgeons at Ascension Genesys Hospital became accredited as Surgeons of Excellence. They are Christopher Ash, DO; Mark Mattingly, MD; and Carol Powers, DO.

The robotic surgery program at Ascension Genesys Hospital was the first in Michigan to receive this accreditation in 2016. To qualify for accreditation, the robotics program and its physicians underwent a thorough review by SRC to ensure they met rigorous standards for delivering high-quality perioperative and long-term, follow-up care that distinguishes them from programs that do not. All aspects of care were examined, from pre-op evaluation, surgery, post-anesthesia, discharge, post-operative care and patient outcomes.

“Ascension Genesys Hospital is proud to have achieved accreditation as a Center of Excellence in Robotic Surgery for the second time, which represents our unparalleled commitment and ability to consistently deliver safe, effective, evidence-based care,” said Christopher Palazzolo, President & CEO, Ascension Genesys Hospital and Ascension Providence Rochester Hospital. “Commitment to this process has focused our multidisciplinary team on exceeding clinical benchmarks and guidelines. Most importantly, our commitment to excellence will improve the health and well-being of our patients.”
