The I-69 Thumb Regional Manufacturing Coalition has launched a LinkedIn group to help bolster the region’s competitiveness and investment in the manufacturing sector. The networking group page also provides a venue to showcase manufacturers, their products and job openings while encouraging local purchasing and talent recruitment.
“The I-69 Thumb Region’s scope of work includes development in manufacturing and agri-business, as well as expansion of regional marketing and communications efforts,” said Janice Karcher, Vice President of Economic Development for the Flint & Genesee Chamber of Commerce. “Advanced manufacturing has long been a focus of regional economic development work because of the economic significance of this sector. The new manufacturing coalition will contribute to these goals.”
The I-69 Thumb Region includes the following counties: Shiawassee, Genesee, Lapeer, St. Clair, Tuscola, Huron and Sanilac.
Karcher manages the LinkedIn group, and users must request to join and be approved by the manager. Click here to express interest in joining the Regional Manufacturing Coalition’s LinkedIn group.
Michigan has long been the home of U.S. manufacturing. Our region has an enduring legacy and a strong future in the industry. Manufacturing exports the majority of its product, contributing to regional wealth-building and a job-multiplier effect.
Not only is Flint & Genesee home to local manufacturers – including Koegel Meats, Coffee Beanery, General Motors, Magna, Monroe Truck, Fernco and Pioneer Cabinetry – but also supply chain strengths in engineering and plastics design, transportation/logistics, fabrication and many support services.
