Flint might not be Beer City, USA, but with the craft beverage industry on the rise, Genesee County can be a destination for beer and wine lovers, if you know where to look.
Redline Brewing Company
A relatively new microbrewery, Redline Brewing Company in Burton has a wide selection of craft brews including a Peanut Butter Gose and a Raspberry Caramel Berliner. The brewery hosts live music on Friday night, and a happy hour from 3 p.m. – 6 p.m. on weekdays and 12 p.m. – 3 p.m. on weekends. Although they don’t have a kitchen, they do allow food deliveries and serve complimentary popcorn.
Tenacity Brewing
In the old fire station on Grand Traverse in Flint, you will find Tenacity Brewing. Live Music, Trivia and Comedy night are a few of the events that Tenacity hosts on a weekly basis. In their tasting room, the Downtown brewery serves a large selection of craft brews and ciders. They don’t have a kitchen inside, but most nights you will find Vehicle City Tacos parked right outside.
Redwood Brewing Company
For the last 20 years, Redwood Steakhouse and Brewery has been serving good food and great beer. Their hand-crafted beer selection includes an American I.P.A, a Kolsch Style Ale and an award-winning Cream Stout. They don’t just have great beer, their dinner menu includes woodfire pizza, fusion sushi and a mesquite grill.
Fenton Winery & Brewery
Founded in 2007, the Fenton Winery & Brewery is an award-winning microbrewery and winery located in Fenton. Starting in a strip mall, the brewery has since expanded to a large building north of town featuring a 1.25-acre wine and beer garden and a full-service banquet hall. Their award-winning brews include Fenton Light American Blonde Ale, Staggering Bull Imperial Nut Brown Ale and Swingin’ Berries Double Cream Stout and Blackberry Merlot fusion. If you prefer wine to beer, their award-winning wines include Cocoa Chocolate Merlot, Opulence Ruby Fortified Port and Solo Blackberry Merlot.
Lynchpin Beer Company
An offshoot of The Laundry in Fenton, Lynchpin Beer Company uses local hops and malts to create exclusive craft brews for the popular restaurant. The beer is brewed in the garage of the building next door to the restaurant and is featured in the restaurant and seasonally in their beirgarten located in between both buildings. Their brews include Space Monkey IPA, Gentleman’s Blonde Ale and Lazy Rooster Red Ale.
Spicer’s Winery
Part of Spicer Orchards, Spicer’s Winery sells wines and hard ciders. They offer tasting options perfect for trying multiple wines and have specialty wines including Cherry and Blueberry for sale by the bottle. In the Carriage House Deli, they serve paninis and appetizers such as a meat and cheese sampler board. While you are there, you may want to check out their Farm Market or take a stroll through their orchard.
