Since the early 2010s, craft cocktail culture has been on the rise. From a traditional old fashioned to cocktails using Amaro, bitters or shrubs, there are plenty of places to go in Flint & Genesee and be part of the craft cocktail revolution.
Here are five places you can go to:
The X
Downtown Flint’s first and only speakeasy, the X, is a craft cocktail lounge where knowing which book to push will grant you entrance. Its full bar boasts specialty made cocktails including the Watermelon Patch made with vodka, fresh muddled watermelon, Cointreau and soda water.
The Laundry
Located in Fenton, the Laundry boasts an extensive bar and features monthly cocktail specials. The local establishment is rolling out a new bar menu for the spring and summer at the end of the month. Featured on the menu is the Stop and Smell the Rosé made with Tanqueray Gin, Pierre Ferrand dry vermouth, raspberry, lemon, orange bitters and Rosé II.
The Agitated Grape
In Davison, the Agitated Grape is the city’s very own wine bar. Featuring over 50 Michigan-made wines, the local bar puts a twist on craft cocktails with wine cocktails. Some of their wine filled drinks include Kitty Kat’s Mojito made with Moscato and rum, and Jakes Old Fashioned made with whiskey and Passion wine.
Churchill’s Food & Spirits
The downtown Flint whisk(e)y bar, Churchill’s Food & Spirits, features several cocktails for the spring and summer. However, in the craft cocktail spirit, its menu changes weekly depending which fresh ingredients are available.
The Relief & Resource Co.
Through the Pringles vending machine at the back of El Topo is Fenton’s own speakeasy, The Relief & Resource Co. The bar prides itself on serving classic and original cocktails made to order. A specialty of the bar is its Tiki cocktails including three different takes on a daiquiri which are discounted on Tiki Tuesdays.
