3 Reasons to Apply for Leadership NOW

October 12, 2016

Leadership NOW organizers will begin accepting applications later this month for its next cohort, which kicks off in January 2017.

“Leadership NOW equips participants for effective leadership, in both a personal and professional context,” said Michelle Hill, Director of Shared Services at the Flint & Genesee Chamber of Commerce, which administers the intensive program with United Way of Genesee County. “It’s ideal for business, nonprofit and municipals professionals who live and/or work in Genesee County.”

By the time the year-long program ends, participants will walk away with:

  1. An understanding of their individual skills. After undergoing an in-depth leadership assessment, each participant will receive a personalized debrief of their analysis, allowing them to set goals for development.
  2. Enhanced leadership qualities. Over the course of a year, cohort members will receive 72 hours of training and 10 hours of one-on-one coaching. During this time, participants will practice a number of varied application exercises that will solidify their understanding of key leadership and management principles.
  3. The ability to transform Flint and Genesee County through collaborative involvement.  In order to graduate from the program, participants must develop and implement a sustainable, collaborative project that addresses a challenge, reduces costs of streamlines a process for local businesses, nonprofits and/or municipalities.
